Even though I was once reluctant to read 'American' authors, I have been totally won over by the fiction of Anne Tyler. She captures everyday life and special events with a special touch, that warms the heart.
and more stuff from the contributing librarian's (or contributing borrower's) perspective of an author, book or genre they particularly like.
WLS Blog
Welcome to the Wairarapa Library Service blog!
The librarians of the Wairarapa Library Service (based in Carterton, Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough) enjoy sharing information. Information about books, about the programmes in the library, and about the ups and downs of library life. We hope you'll enjoy sharing these things with us and comment on the posts (that's all we live for - well that & coffee)!

Agatha Raisin strikes again
I just love detective novels with a feisty heroine! Agatha Raisin is just such a character, and the .... and more about whatever new book the contributing librarian wants to write about.
We could have different labels for Fiction, Junior Fiction, YA Fiction, and for NF - and perhaps for DVDs too.
We can get our borrowers to review new books too!

Three photographs and a cross-stiched bookmark
Are these yours?
(insert scan of photos, bookmark beautifully stitched with the name 'Lois')
Found in books left at Greytown today.
Margot really likes the look of the bookmark, so is considering changing her name to Lois so that she can legitimately use it. If it's your bookmark, you'd better get to Greytown Library quick and pick it up!
[We could also include details of some of the funny things we find in books too, so start keeping a list!]
Note - this topic was inspired by Rachel, who is making an artwork for the new library with all the things they've collected from between the pages.

What is the best way to skin a possum?
This is where we could post the story of funny, interesting or strange requests we get at our libraries.
This is an example of what a post might look like
We will need to decide which content is best placed on the WLS website (which needs updating), and which is best placed on the blog.
The idea of having a WLS blog is to provide our borrowers with another avenue to access our information - less formal, more friendly and possibly more fun.
It could be a route for librarians to share information - but everything on the blog could be read by anyone, so this might not be the best vehicle for that.
I'm putting in some ideas for content into other posts.
